Russell County Fair, Volume 2

 

Darin Handy, founder of All are God’s Creatures Sanctuary, Marion, VA., and his associate Tina Altizer,  taught their guests Friday and Saturday about their friends they brought from the sanctuary which, among others, included a reticulated python, a whip scorpion, snapping turtles, an African spurred tortoise, and various lizards.  Above left, Mr. Handy is pictured with a green anaconda. Above right, Ms. Altizer is pictured with a ball or royal python native to Africa. Most of the animals at the All God’s Creatures Sanctuary have been rescued from the pet trade.


Markenzie Honaker and her horse “Just Call Me Classy”, above left got the Blue Ribbon in Class 20 Western Halter. Kyle Hughes with “She’s Tellin Me” took the top spot in Class 21 Western Halter.

These young riders, pictured below in the Lead Line Class, are getting early exposure to the horse show ring.


Hannah Scyphers (6) of Abingdon, pictured below with her father Aaron Scyphers, won the Blue Ribbon in Class 8 market lambs.
