May 2, 2018 Coeburn—Noah Rasnick tossed a gem, leading the Eastside Spartans to a 7 to 0 win over rival Wise Central. Rasnick struck out 11, walked 1, and allowed just 5 hits in the win. Drew Richards led the Spartans at the plate stroking a pair of doubles, driving in 3 runs, and scoring twice. Cole Harness posted a 3-hit game with a pair of runs driven in. Dakota Moore also had a good game, recording 2 hits and a run scored.

Zach James and Landon Elkins paced Central with 2 hits each. Jordan Bishop took the loss on the mound for the Warriors.

“Our seniors have carried us this year,” said Eastside Head Coach Chris Clay. “The Spartans clinched their 7th straight Cumberland Championship Tuesday night, knocking off Twin Springs 11 to 2. We’ve got some young guys who are ready for their chance and hope to continue the tradition, but our 9 seniors are all integral parts of this team.
“This was awesome,” said Clay about the win over Central. “It was a big Team win, great pitching, great defense, and timely hitting. This team has a special family relationship.”

Cole Harness’ 2-out RBI single plated Drew Richards, breaking the 0 to 0 stalemate in the bottom of the third inning. The Spartans added 4 more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, getting base hits from Peyton Pope, Adam Ketron, Dakota Moore, a sacrifice bunt by Noah Rasnick, and a 2-RBI double by Drew Richards.

A base hit by Seth Boles, and run-scoring hits from Drew Richards and Cole Harness in the bottom of the sixth inning made the final score Eastside 7 Central 0.
“Our positives,” said Central Head Coach Brian Mills, “were that Zach James and Landon Elkins hit the ball well for us. I thought Jordan Bishop threw the ball well too.”

Central collected 5 hits and did not make an error. Eastside totaled 7 runs on 12 hits and 2 errors
