Number 23 Colyn Sturgill Scores for Eastside
Colyn ranks 11th in the 103-member senior class at Eastside High School and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is also an Early College Scholar at Mountain Empire Community College.
“Colyn is one of those kids who was fun to watch grow as a player,” said Eastside coach Patrick Damron. You don’t have to be a player that comes in and starts as a freshman to develop into a college player and Colyn is one of those guys. I watched him grow and improve as a player these last two years into one of the best centers in the area. It’s pretty hard to get better during a season, but Colyn has worked hard this season and made himself a better player from the beginning of the year to the state championship game. He holds the career record in blocked shots at Eastside and while he is not number one in the state he is in the top 10.”
“I saw Colyn play in person for the first time in January,” said Alice Lloyd head coach J.R. Hammond. He actually improved from then until the end of the season. It’s going to be fun coaching him. He will be a good addition to our program.”
