SPECIAL ST. PAUL EVENTS OF JULY 4TH 2026 began at 8:00 a.m. with the traditional Pancake Breakfast by the St. Paul United Methodist Church. This church, by the way, is the longest-serving religious organization in the Town of St. Paul with roots going back to the 1890’s. Approximately 90 people enjoyed breakfast goodies and fellowship. Funds generated by the event help support the church’s community outreach programs.

ADDITIONAL EVENTS INCLUDED free admission to the St. Paul Municipal Pool. The weather wasn’t just warm – it was HOT, and the pool’s cool water was enjoyed by children of the community.

PARADES ARE POPULAR EVENTS IN SMALL TOWNS and St. Paul’s parade was no exception. Take note the golf cart decorated by Tony and Carey Wakings in a Semiquincentennial theme (yes – that’s a REAL word!).

THERE WERE ALSO NUMEROUS ACTIVITIES at the Riverside Shopping Center throughout the day…

LATER IN THE EVENING there was a fireworks display. As we all know, it just wouldn’t be Independence Day without one! Because photos don’t do justice to pyrotechnics, we aren’t including any. But several local folks captured the beautiful display on video using their phones.

I’m sure everyone who attended the Independence Day Celebration will join the Clinch Valley Times in saying “Thank You!” to the St. Paul Police Department, the St. Paul Public Works Department, the Maintenance Crew of the Town of St. Paul, the Administrative Employees of the Town of St. Paul, the St. Paul Town Council, and all the volunteers whose efforts created special memories for children, senior adults, and people of every age in between!
