DEVILS VICTORIOUS FOR HOMECOMING CROWD

The Devils received the ball from the Rural Retreat kickoff Saturday night, but soon after, the Indians intercepted a pass on the 35 yard line. Copenhaver of Rural Retreat scored the first touchdown of the game and Kilton added the extra point, putting the Indians ahead early in the quarter.

Nigel Trent recovered the ball on an Indian fumble of a fourth down kick. William White scored on a 1 yard run, and Ronnie McGee kicked the extra point to tie the first quarter 7 – 7.

During the second quarter, Castlewood had a 60 yard touchdown run called back because of an illegal crackback, which resulted in a 5 yard penalty, yet the Devils came back with a first down from Pientka. Tony “Crusher” Martin later recovered a fumble by the Indians. The second quarter ended with a scoring, leaving the halftime score at 7 – 7.

In the third quarter, Chris Salyers recovered an Indian fumble on the 21 yard line. Ricky Pientka scored a four yard run touchdown and McGee kicked the extra point putting Castlewood ahead 14 – 7. Rural Retreat came back with a 60 yard pass resulting in a touchdown and a 2 point run making the score 15 – 14. Castlewood came back again with a ten yard touchtown run from

Ricky Pientka and also a 2 point run by Pientka putting the Devils in the lead, which they weren’t to relinquish for the rest of the night.

Late in the fourth, William White scored a touchdown on a 17 yard run and Ronnie McGee kicked the extra point, making the score 29 – 15. Freddie Parsons recovered a fumble to put the ball in Castlewood’s possession with a 1 – 40 remaining in the game.

Castlewood had a total of 313 yard rushing, of which Ricky Pientka had 112 yards on 15 carries and William White, 103 yards and 16 carries. The Devils had 16 first downs and 45 yards passing.

Rural Retreat had 14 first downs, 147 yards rushing and 85 yards passing.
