RICHMOND, VA – Today, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears is honoring the legacy of Dr. King.
“In Jamaica I feel like a human being!” said Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Gleaner newspaper reports that King, “…was so comfortable in Jamaica that he returned in 1967 where he completed the manuscript which became his most important book: Where Do We Go From Here.”
“As an immigrant and a naturalized citizen of our great United States of America, the inspiring life of Dr. King is deeply personal for me and millions more. My father arrived from Jamaica with nothing, and worked multiple jobs to achieve the American Dream that paved the way for me to do the same.
“I urge my fellow Virginians and all Americans to take time and remember Dr. King’s dedication to equal opportunity for all through nonviolence and love,” said Lieutenant Governor Earle-Sears.
