THE RUSSELL COUNTY FAIR & HORSE SHOW has changed over the years and this is to be expected. We’ve changed; the community has changed. The fair has kept up with the times, retaining the best of the old while adding to the new.
In 1974, the fairgrounds at Castlewood did not exist – the fair was still being held at Lebanon. Below are scanned images of fair-goers and the 1974 fair program (this copy was used as a mock-up for the 1975 program). Take note of the huge number of volunteers who are listed. They committed their time and effort to make this traditional event a reality.
Today, a large number of volunteers still spend their time creating happy memories for members of our community as well as visitors who come to enjoy our hospitality. Many pictures were taken yesterday and a separate article about the 2019 fair will follow. Watch for it 🙂
Thanks, I enjoyed looking through this so much!
