IN COEBURN — Veteran’s Day was celebrated Saturday, November 10th. at an outdoor ceremony. Members of Coeburn’s Boy Scout Troop 301 and Cub Scout Pack 170 honored veterans from VFW Post 8652 with a flag retirement ceremony, Several worn flags were disposed of with due respect.
Members of the Coeburn Fire and Police Departments, along with members of the Wise County Sheriff’s Department also attended the event to show their appreciation of those veterans for their service to our country.
IN ST. PAUL — The town’s annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony was held on Monday, November 12th. in the St. Paul High School Auditorium. The Castlewood High School Band opened the ceremony with patriotic music. St. Paul Mayor and U.S. Army veteran Kyle Fletcher welcomed those in attendance.
St. Paul Elementary School’s para-professional Vickie Helbert sang the National Anthem and led the SPES Bell Choir who performed for the audience. Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney Chuck Slemp offered an opening prayer and also spoke in appreciation of the service that veterans past and present have given to our Country.
Cub Scout pack 170 presented the colors and St. Paul graduate Shelley Molinary played Taps to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. A reception followed at the St. Paul Town Hall.
