OKTOBERFEST is a well-known and popular folk festival that originated in Bavaria.  Although much is made of the Scots-Irish heritage of Southwest Virginians, most of us also have German ancestors in our lineage.  Regardless, Oktoberfest is a great way to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of fall.

This year, Oktoberfest began on September 22nd and will end on October 7th.  To celebrate, Sugar Hill Brewing Company sponsored an all-day indoor/outdoor Oktoberfest event on September 29th.  There was live music along with special food and beer.  Here are some photos taken during the festivities.  Click on any picture to see a larger view…
