From the Clinch Valley Times, September 1, 1994

“The Rebels” who finished first in the women’s slow-pitch softball league in Dante, participated in a Tournament in Big Stone Gap on August 27, 1994, winning two and losing two.  Team members pictured here are [Front Row L to R] Peyton Gregory, Lisa Meade, Tammy Long, Kristie Jessee, and Debbie Hamm; [Back Row L to R] Becky McReynolds, Marsha McReynolds, Heather Jordan, Rita Bradley, Mary Lou Varney, and Val Taylor.

The team received the trophy pictured above and for years it was displayed in the office of the Clinch Valley Times (the team’s sponsor).  Recently the trophy was donated to the Dante Coal Mining and Railroad Museum where it is now on display.
