For years the Clinch River Little League has taught sportsmanship and teamwork to local youngsters. Many coaches and sponsors have worked to build an impressive little league legacy. Our community has benfitted from this valuable use of the time, patience, and effort of these volunteers. We are thankful for people like them.
Pictured here are some little league players from 1975 – a mere 43 years ago! I don’t have the team rosters handy to include at this time, but I will add the players’ names later if they can be found. Meanwhile, if you recognize yourself in one of the pictures, please let us know in the comments area provided.
I recognize some of the coaches, Roger Salyer, Senators; Blue Kiser and Charlie Collins, Giants; Eddie Horne, Braves; Junior Austin, Dodgers. Others are familiar, but can’t name them!

What about the Royals?
Bryan, for whatever reason there was no picture of the Royals in that set. I do have a photo of the Royals from 1973, though. I may post that set in the future, so keep watching.

I have a lot of memories of little league back in those 1970’s days. My dad, Roger Salyer was the manager and Sam long was the assistant coach of the senators until Wesley’s Adam’s dad took over. I can remember all the coaches, wives, most players names. Kenny Higgins was coach for cardinals, bill Higgins had just gotten out of diapers. Eddie horn was coach of Braves, Charlie Collin’s & blue Kiser was the giants, Jack Kiser was astros, Don Bradley coached Tigers, who remembers “Monty Skeens” ? He put a lot of balls in the clinch River. I recall the train stopping along the 3rd base side to watch a game. Hot dogs being 50 cents, candy bars a quarter. Going to Frosty Bostie after the game for milkshakes. A HR you a free movie at the lyric theater. All this was at the Old field before the new (current) field was built. We had no lights, outfield fence was green plywood.
