Prior to their baseball game with Thomas Walker, Castlewood honored their senior baseball and track athletes. Senior track athletes are Alex Lambert, escorted by  parents Jessica and Travis Lambert. Noah Maxfield, son of  Jeremey and Dessa Maxfield. Jordan Statzer, escorted by Phillip Statzer, April Hawkins and Stacy Hawkins. Jack Ward, grandson of Aubrey and Pat Ward. Mark Wildman, escorted by his father Jamie Young and grandmother Carol Wildman. Senior baseball players are Ethan Capaldi, grandson of Barry Young. Jonah Cornett, grandson of Jeter Cornett.  Darren Isaac son of Ernie and Melissa Isaac.

May 4, 2018 Castlewood—Devin Robinson dashed home from third, on a wild pitch, in the bottom of the seventh inning giving the Blue Devil baseball team their first win of the season. Castlewood rallied for 6 runs in the inning to defeat Thomas Walker 10 to 9.

 

 

Ethan Fields paced the Blue Devils with 3 hits and 3 runs scored. Nick Deboard added a pair of hits and scored 2 runs.  Dawson Lee led the Pioneers with 3 hits(1 double) and scored 3 runs. Caleb Pacholewski and Josh Parsons each singled and drove in a run for Thomas Walker.

Base hits by Dawson Lee and Caleb Pacholewski gave the pioneers a 3 to 2 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Thomas Walker made the score 4 to 2 when Lucas Sturgill was hit by a pitch and later scored on a Castlewood error. The Pioneers added to their lead scoring twice in the fifth inning getting a hit from Josh Parsons, 2 Castlewood errors, and a base on balls.

Castlewood cut their deficit to 6 to 4 scoring twice in the home sixth inning. Ethan Fields led off the inning with a double, coming in to score on a RBI groundout by Devin Robinson. Jonah Cornett walked and later scored on a passed ball.

Thomas Walker appeared to put the game on ice scoring 3 times in the top of the seventh inning taking a 9 to 4 lead. Isaiah Artrip led off the Blue Devils’ seventh with a base hit. Gavin Monk took a walk. Darren Isaacs cracked a base hit to left field scoring Artrip. Nick Deboard, Ethan Fields, and Devin Robinson followed with RBI base hits. With the score 9 to 9, bases loaded, and 1 out Isaiah Artrip came to bat. Three pitches later, Devin Robinson dashed in to score on a wild pitch giving Castlewood their first win of the season.

Thomas Walker scored 9 runs on 6 hits and made 2 errors. Castlewood scored 10 runs on 9 hits and made 4 errors.
