Lady Spartans win at Castlewood
April 26, 2018 Castlewood — Lacey Austin smacked 2 triples, drove in a run, and scored twice leading Eastside to a 15 to 2 win at Castlewood. Kacie Jones also had a good day at the plate with a pair of hits and 3 runs driven in. Elizabeth Brace earned the win allowing 1 base hit and striking out 5. Katrina Hughes roped a double leading off the third inning for Castlewood, which broke up Brace’s no-hit bid. Samantha Gray and Janakay Kiser each had a run batted in for the Lady Devils.

Lacey Austin led off the game with a triple to center field. Kacie Jones picked up her first RBI of the game, scoring Austin, with a base hit up the middle to give Eastside a 1to 0 lead. A base hit by Anna Whited and a 2-run scoring double by Kacie Jones gave the Lady Spartans a 4 to 0 lead after two innings. Eastside scored 4 runs in the third and 2 more in the top of the fourth inning to take a 10 to 0 lead.

Kayla Lane walked to lead off the fourth inning for the Lady Devils. Lillie Sanders also took a base on balls, giving Castlewood runners at first and second. Ground ball outs by Samantha Gray and Janakay Kiser scored Lane and Sanders to make the score 10-2.

In the top of the fifth inning, doubles by Chloe Bailey and Emily Moore, a single by Elizabeth Brace, and two Castlewood errors gave the Lady Spartans 5 more runs, and a 15 to 2 lead. Maggie Odle, who came on in relief of Brace in the fourth inning, retired the Lady Devils in the fifth inning for the win.

Eastside totaled 15 runs on 15 hits with two errors. Castlewood totaled 2 runs on 1 hit with 4 errors.
