Eastside tops Castlewood

 

April 26, 2018 Castlewood—The Spartans got by the Blue Devils 13 to 0 in Thursday’s 5-inning contest at Castlewood. Cole Harness powered the Eastside attack with a double, a homerun, and two runs driven in. Logan Porter collected two hits, scored three runs, and reached base four times. Drew Richards also had a pair of hits and scored two runs. Richards got the win for the Spartans striking out 7 in his 3-innings of work. Gunnar Jessee picked up the only base hit for the Blue Devils. Nathan Hughes took the loss for Castlewood.

Eastside Spartan Cole Harness homered in the third inning

 

The Spartans started quickly getting 4 runs across in the first inning. Adam Ketron led off the game getting a base on balls. Logan Porter’s single scored Ketron. Cole Harness knocked in Porter with a double to right center field. Dakota Moore’s base hit scored Harness. Moore would come around to score on a double by Peyton Pope.

With the score 6 to 0 beginning the third inning, Eastside’s Peyton Pope drew a walk and Nick Livingston singled. Colyn Sturgill reached base on an error that allowed Pope to score. With two outs in the inning a Drew Richards base hit pushed in 2 more runs for Eastside. Cole Harness backed that up with a two-run home run. The Spartans tacked on another run, on 4 consecutive bases on balls, making their lead 13 to 0.

Eastside scored 13 runs on 9 hits and did not make an error. Castlewood was held to 1 base hit and committed 2 errors.
